The building was constructed in 1912 by Kessler and Pohlman and rebuilt into a hotel in 1995. From 1944 to 1992 it was the headquarters of the Red Army. The hotel has a conference hall with 80 seats, and a meeting room for 10 people.

The hotel's restaurant offers home-cooked, Estonian cuisine which you can enjoy whilst overlooking Barclay de Tolly Park. Take pleasure in hospitable service, and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, while enjoying delicious food and good wine. The restaurant is open from Sunday to Thursday, from 12:00 to 22:00. From Friday to Saturday it is open from 12:00 to 24:00. Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:00 from Monday to Friday, and from 08:00 to 11:00 at weekends.

Vanemuine Theatre (400 m) - A theatre with 3 auditoriums hosting plays, operas, ballets, operettas and musicals. Tartu University (500 m) - A university with museums and botanical gardens.
