There are 97 friendly rooms in Hotel Claudius, which overlook the beautiful Csónakázó-tó ( the lake of Szombathely ) or the town. The whole hotel is accessible for wheel chairs. We have two specially equipped double rooms for disabled persons and they have adequate bathrooms and beds.

Each of our rooms is equipped with comfortable furnitures. We offer mostly standard rooms ( 2 rooms are specially equipped for disabled persons and 3 "bio - rooms". The bio - rooms are specially suitable for allergic persons ). You can freely use the sauna, the jazuzzi and the gym.

Breakfast buffet will be served in the restaurant daily from 6.30 to 10 am. In the Hotel’s air conditioned restaurant we can host 220 people. We can separate the restaurant to three parts at the same time. As our Hotel was named after the Roman emperor Claudius we provide Roman dishes as well. On the menu you can find our national dishes and international courses, you can also choos from our diet menu. On the wine list we recommend the best Hungarian wines. Opening hours: - Restaurant: Monday - Sunday: 6.30 am – 10 pm - Bar: Monday - Sunday: 3 pm – midnight You can have cold refreshing drinks and beers from the minibar or you can also just call the room service within the opening hours of the restaurant.

Places of Interest: Museums and Roman monuments: - Baroque Cinty Center and Main Square: The former marketplace is ornamented by several monuments and the Holy-Trinity Statue. The building of the OTP Bank Branch is also worth a visit, where Roman artifacts from the ancient Savaria are on display beneath the glass floor. - Eölbei House: In front of the baroque-classical building you can find the statue of Szily János, who was the first bishop of Szombathely. - Ecclesiastical Seminary and Episcopal Archives of Szombathely: 70.000 volumes have been collected in the ornamental rooms. The highlights of the collection are the medieval codices and special original prints. - Cathedral: It is Hungary’s third largest castle church. Lóránd Eötvös repeated his pendulum experiment proving that the Earth is revolving. - Járdányi Paulovics István Romkert Ruin Garden: In the centre of the town you can find the Bishop’s Garden what is a symbolic garden. The most valuable part is the Palace Complex. Its enormous hall is the most famous in Pannonia was once covered by a mosaic floor, which still can be seen. - Bishop Palace: It is Szombathely’s most beutiful baroque palace. The hall’s fresco was painted by Maulbertsch. From the balcony of the hall Pope John Paul II. blest Szombathely.

Arrival by public transportation: Arrival by bus: The bus terminal is called "Szombathely" and app. 1.5km from the hotel away. There are no trams, busses or subways you can use to get to the hotel. If you walk along the main road you need app. 15 minutes to reach the hotel. Arrival by train: The train terminal is called "Szombathely" and is app. 4km from the hotel away. You can take the bus number 2a or 2c ( the go in circles, so it doesn't matter which one you take ) until the stop "Uszoda". The hotel is right there! Arrival by car: Budapest is app. 220km ( a good 2.5 hour drive ) away, Graz is app. 115km ( a good 1.5 hour drive ) away and Vienna is app. 125km ( app. 1.5 hour drive ) away. Arrival by car from Vienna or Graz: Leave the highway at the exit "Oberwart" ( this is a small town in Austria, app. 37km from Szombathely away ). When you drive into the twon you will come to a roundabout, where you have to take the first exit. Follow the street until you reach a second roundabout. There you have to take the second exit. Follow the street until you reach the sign "Szombathely - Grenze". The village you have to cross in Austria before you reach the boarder is called "Schachendorf", in Hungary it is called "Bucsu". App. 10km after "Bucsu" you will reach "Szombathely". Please note that you have in total 3 possibilities to turn right. You have to choose the third one, which is called "Szombathely ÉSZAK ( Nord )", or Szombathely NYUGAT ( West )”. Then there will be another roundabout, where you have to go left ( second exit ). Follow the street until you reach yet another roundabout. Head straight in direction "centrum" and turn right by the second traffic light. After app. 300m you will find our hotel on the left side.

The historic downtown is just a short walk and the hotel is really close to the swimming pool and spa.
